Each year, Arsenal becomes the centre of attention during the summer window for the wrong reasons. They’ve had a past of hapless signings and rather average pre-season tourneys that have made experts question the approach as a whole.
But this year’s pre-season changes it all. Five wins from five games and a collection of 24 goals ensured that the Gunners had a perfect pre-season.
The pre-season is one of the most critical sets of weeks for the clubs in the Premier League. It is a time when the new team tries to gel in, and the signings adapt to the playing styles. It is also a test run for the managers to see what combinations work best before the Premier League kicks off.
It is also a time when everyone who purchases Arsenal tickets gets to see the team for the upcoming season. Based on whether games are won or lost, fans already advance on their conclusions for the season.
For Arsenal, several interesting points are shortlisted as they prepare again to bring back Champions League football. The side looked like they had gotten their pass for this year’s Champions League with a fourth spot secured but unfortunately had to give it away owing to bad form in the last few weeks.
Now is the start of a new season, and with renewed expectations, it is safe to say that Arsenal has put that season behind them. While several Arsenal players have stood out during the pre-season, we look at the top three stand-out players who’ve brought back faith with everyone who purchased the tickets.
1 – Eddie Nketiah
Nketiah was a player who was often sidelined with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the side. He was too good for academy football but couldn’t see through to a starting number with the wealth of players in the side. But finally, the chance came for the 23-year-old in the final rounds of last season.
Building on the last season’s ratings, Nketiah was rewarded with a contract extension and given the number 14. The Englishman had mixed reactions from the fans, with most of them seeing him as a backup player.
But the pre-season is making them change their stance.
Nketiah has not just shown just edge but has aligned himself to be first-team material. What makes his case is that he now has shown Mike Arteta that he can replicate his success story on any given game day, regardless of the opponent.
The center-forward has strength and wistful tactics to easily pounce on loose balls and shrug away defenders. His quick feet, tagged with his dribbling capabilities, have now developed him into an all-round player.
But the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City will hinder first-team appearances for the youngster, but it does not mean that Nketiah will have a permanent spot on the bench. Jesus’s inclusion will only help him level up and demand that starting place because he knows the level at which he needs to deliver.
Expect Nketiah to start a few games, and provided that he gets his act together, he could come out as an emerging start in the Premier League this season.
2 – William Saliba
After his loan deal, Saliba is back in Arsenal colors and has committed his future to the club. Ever since the Frenchman joined the club, he’s been influential right from the start.
His impact was visibly seen on the pitch. Whether it was heading balls away, nipping in for an interception, or running those sprint lines to cover wide channels – he seemed to be one player who looked in control at all times.
Offensive players have always been at an advantage in one-on-one situations, but with Saliba, it felt like he was in control. His power and presence were intimidating during the pre-season, making Mike Arteta’s life easy as he has confidence in Saliba to be a starting number.
When Arsenal played Chelsea in the Florida Cup, Saliba dictated gameplay to his counterparts. On several occasions, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner often played second-fiddle to him with the ball.
Arsenal won the game 4-0.
Off the pitch, he plays an even vital role as he looks Premier League ready. This gives comfort to the manager, who is desperately searching to field Ben White in place of Takehiro Tomiyasu, who left the club during the summer.
This is revolutionary since it will now give Arsenal to go back to their playing structure with the right back pushing through to the midfield. While White is not as dynamic as Tomiyasu, trust is with the defense.
3 – Gabriel Jesus
Jesus has been in the news even before his arrival in London at City. The multiple league winner for Manchester City felt that his role was getting shorter with him getting less game time.
But his arrival to Arsenal makes the side complete. For everyone who purchased Arsenal tickets, the exit of Aubameyang in the January window was a disappointment because he had to leave after his commitment to the club was in jeopardy. For a good part of the season, the side was without a first-class striker, eventually losing the 4th place finish.
Jesus could be Arsenal’s savior (pun intended). The glaring weaknesses in the front line were imminent last season, even with Aubameyang’s presence, and Lacazette could sub in to fill in the shoes.
The addition of the likes of Jesus means that they have the options to once again play the wide attacking game, like the earlier times. The pre-season run with Arsenal has shown what the Brazilain is capable of and why Arteta was adamant about signing him.
Arteta had played an influential role in Jesus’s success during his time at City, and he expects Jesus to revive his career with the Gunners’. His mobility and intelligent movement terrorized the defense during his first few games for the club. Tagged with his off-the-ball excellence and finishing, he makes the complete striker.
His professionalism and the winning mentality are all that Arsenal needs right now. Jesus arrives from a fast-paced setup at Manchester City, and his playing style should benefit Arsenal immensely.
Finally, the Arsenal attack is coming together, and everyone who purchased Arsenal tickets will need to wait a few more days to see if the pre-season success is carried forward to the Premier League.
Arsenal has had an excellent pre-season – one of the best alongside the Spurs. The new players have brought in a new sense of hope for the fans. The young talent is at the forefront – the Gunners’ are looking in great shape.
All of this excitement has the Arsenal fans buzzing – everyone wants to get a hold of Arsenal tickets to watch them play. Knowing Arsenal and the Emirates stadium, you know the challenge of sourcing Arsenal tickets.
Official ticketing sources run out in record time, leaving thousands of fans disappointed. But this season, there’s space for every fan to source Arsenal tickets to watch them play, thanks to trusted reseller platforms.
By filtering out Arsenal, you could see hundreds of ticket options for games listed from verified sources for your convenience. If you haven’t got your match-day Arsenal tickets, this is your wake-up call.
