Arsenal in talks to sign Man City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko

According to The Athletics David Ornstein, Arsenal are in talks with Manchester City over a potential deal to sign left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer.
Mikel Arteta is in the market for another left-back to compete with Kieran Tierney next season. The Scottish international has been plagued by injury issues over the past 18 months.
Nuno Tavares struggled to deputise at times last year with the Portuguese youngster hauled off before half-time on two occasions so Arsenal need top class competition for Tierney.
We’ve been strongly linked with Lisandro Martinez but the Ajax star in recent weeks but the Dutchman appears set for a reunion with former boss Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
That’s left Arteta eyeing alternatives and Ornstein claims that Arsenal have now set their sights on Zinchenko. The Athletic journalist says talks are underway over a deal and Man City are open to selling if their valuation is met.
Zinchenko has just two years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and he may be reluctant to sign an extension given he’s been unable to nail down a regular spot in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven.
The 25-year-old is predominantly a left-back but he’s also comfortable playing in midfield so his versatility will appeal to Arteta. Plus, obviously the boss knows him well from their time together at City.
Zinchenko joined Man City from FC Ufa in 2016 and has won 4 Premier League titles and 5 domestic cups during his 128 appearances, so he’d bring a winning mentality to the Arsenal squad.
We have recently completed a deal to buy Gabriel Jesus from Man City so we should have a good working relationship with our Premier League rivals, which will help during negotiations this time around.
I think Zinchenko would be a superb signing for Arsenal if we could pull it off but it remains to be seen how much City will want for the defender. We were prepared to pay upwards of £40m for Martinez and a similar figure should be enough to tempt City into a deal.
