Arsenal team news: Martinelli returns for Wolves game

Arsenal will be looking for a win to close-in on the top four when they take on Wolves at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
This is a hugely important game in the race for the top four. Wolves are just two points behind Arsenal in the table, while we’re four points off fourth with three games in hand over Man Utd. So it’s vital we win tomorrow night to put distance between us and Wolves, as well as close the gap on United.
Fortunately for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has a fully-fit squad to choose from. Gabriel Martinelli is back in contention after serving a one-match suspension. The Brazilian was controversially sent off at Molineux in the reverse fixture two weeks ago and was forced to miss the win over Brentford at the weekend.
However, Martinelli has served his suspension and is available for selection tomorrow night. Arteta spoke to the media at his pre-match press conference today and confirmed Arsenal have no fresh injury concerns following the win over Brentford.
No injuries
Takehiro Tomiyasu was on the bench on Saturday afternoon after recovering from a niggling calf issue so we have no injuries to deal with heading into the Wolves game on Thursday.
Arteta told Arsenal.com:
on the latest team news…
No, at the moment it is all as it was before.
It will be interesting to see if Arteta makes any changes for the game tomorrow. Tomiyasu is pushing for a recall but Cedric Soares has played well at right-back in the last couple of games.
Martinelli was a regular before his suspension but Emile Smith Rowe will be hoping to keep his place after scoring the opening goal against Brentford. The idea of moving Smith Rowe into a ‘false 9’ role has been floated, as this would allow Martinelli to return on the left.
We’ll have to wait and see how Arteta lines-up the team on Thursday but the most important thing is Arsenal secure a win to boost our top four hopes.
