The FA Cup is the oldest domestic football cup competition in the world. It always throws up shocks and excitement and this year has been no different.
Record winners Arsenal crashed out in the 3rd round thanks to defeat at Nottingham Forest while super-rich Newcastle United were dumped out by Cambridge United.
Not even the experts could have predicted those results, and the shocks make betting on FA Cup games extremely difficult.
Millions of football fans bet on football every week and the FA Cup is a popular competition due to its unpredictable nature. If you can successfully predict a few surprise results, then you stand to win handsome returns.
Betting odds
While we see plenty of shock results in the early rounds, it’s usually one of the big boys who end up coming out victorious at Wembley to lift the trophy.
Currently, Premier League champions Manchester City are the 11/4 favourites with the bookmakers to win the 2021/22 FA Cup and the football tipsters are backing Pep Guardiola’s men to do a league and FA Cup double.
Liverpool have struggled to make an impact in the domestic cups in recent years which is perhaps why they are only third favourites to win the FA Cup this year. You can get odds of 6/1 on Jurgen Klopp lifting his first FA Cup.
Chelsea have an excellent history in this competition so it’s no surprise to see them priced as the 5/1 second favourites. Thomas Tuchel has a hugely talented squad at his disposal so many are expecting Chelsea to be right in the mix to win the FA Cup this season.
Manchester United have a rich history in the FA Cup as well and while they’ve struggled for consistency this season, this could be Ralf Rangnick’s best chance at silverware this campaign. United are currently priced at odds of 10/1 to win the FA Cup, which might be tempting for some fans. To increase your chances of winning, make use of the betting tips available at best soccer tipster instead of just making an uncalculated prediction.
Outsiders
Outside the big boys, we have Tottenham as the fifth favourites at odds of 12/1. Antonio Conte is a top class manager and with Spurs out of Europe, he can fully focus on having a good run in the FA Cup.
West Ham are enjoying an excellent campaign and they could be a solid outside bet to win the cup at odds of 14/1 while holders Leicester are well priced at 15/1. Wolves and Everton can be backed at 20/1 and if you really fancy a shock, you can get odds of 33/1 on Graham Potter leading Brighton to victory at Wembley.
