Arsenal photos: Leno back in training but no sign of Aubameyang
Arsenal undertook their final preparations at London Colney today ahead of Saturday evening’s trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United.
We head into the game off the back of consecutive wins over Southampton and West Ham so Mikel Arteta will be hoping to tighten our grip on fourth with another victory tomorrow.
It appears Bernd Leno is back in contention as the German stopper has been pictured in training today. Leno has missed the last few matches with a groin injury but should return to the squad against Leeds – although a place on the bench is the best the 29-year-old can realistically hope for.
However, I didn’t spot Gabriel Martinelli in the official pictures from training on Friday. The Brazilian youngster limped off with a knock during Arsenal’s win over West Ham on Wednesday night so he may be a doubt for the trip to Elland Road. Arteta didn’t mention anything at his press conference so hopefully Martinelli is available as he’s been in excellent form lately.
One player who definitely wasn’t involved in first team training today is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The striker has been frozen out since being stripped of the captaincy and Arteta says he’s won’t be involved against Leeds – which will be the third consecutive match he’s missed. The Athletic says Aubameyang is being forced to train on his own away from the main squad so it looks like his future at Arsenal is in serious doubt.
Sead Kolasinac was also not in training on Friday afternoon as he’s been ruled out until the new year with an ankle injury but otherwise Arsenal have a fully-fit squad to choose from this weekend.
