Fabrizio Romano: Player ‘completed’ move to Arsenal at London Colney today
According to Fabrizio Romano, Ben White has been at London Colney today finalising his move to Arsenal and has joined the club in a £50m deal from Brighton.
Mikel Arteta has been in the market for a new right-sided central defender this summer as he looks to replace David Luiz – who’s left the club following the expiration of his contract at the end of June.
White soon emerged as Arsenal’s prime target and after seeing two previous bids rejected, we finally agreed terms with the Seagulls over a £50m deal earlier this month.
We had to wait for White to return from his holiday in Greece before the formalities could be completed but Romano says the defender was at London Colney today putting the finishing touches on his move to the Emirates.
The Guardian journalist says White has agreed his contract and the paperwork has now been signed. This information is supported by Goal reporter Charles Watts who also claims White was at the training base today to complete his switch to Arsenal.
Ben White deal completed and confirmed – no doubt. He joins Arsenal on a permanent deal for £50m to Brighton, paperworks signed in the last few days. Contract agreed too. ⚪️🔴🤝 #AFC

We now wait for the official announcement from the club but it looks like everything is done and White will become our third major signing of the summer window following the arrivals of Nuno Tavares and Albert Lokonga.
The 23-year-old should prove to be an excellent addition to the squad as he’s developed into one of the best young defenders in British football since breaking into the Brighton first team set-up.
White’s superb form last season earned him a place in the England Euro 2020 squad and he was linked with a number of top clubs this summer so this is something of a coup from Arsenal.
He’s mainly a centre-back but is also comfortable playing at right-back so White will give Arteta options in defence and I think he’ll develop into an excellent player for The Arsenal.
