Arsenal remain second favourites for this season’s UEFA Europa League despite drawing 1-1 at home to Slavia Prague in the first leg of our quarter-final tie.
Nicolas Pepe appeared to have won us the first leg with a fine finish at the Emirates last week before we fell asleep at the back to concede in the third minute of stoppage time.
The Czech side have not lost at home in this season’s competition, beating Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Hapoel Be’er Sheva and Nice in the group stage. They were held by both Leicester City and Rangers in their two previous knockout rounds, before winning the second legs 2-0 away from home each time.
Manchester United are the bookmakers’ favourites to win this season’s competition with all bookmakers and odds offered by the top casino online. The Red Devils were 2-0 away to Granada in the first leg of their quarter-final putting them in the best position of the remaining teams to secure a spot in the next round.
Spanish La Liga side Villarreal are in a much better position to book their place in the final four, having won 1-0 away to Dinamo Zagreb last week, whilst AS Roma were 2-1 winners away to runaway Dutch Eredivisie leaders Ajax.
Premier League rivals United are as short as 6/5 to life the trophy, whilst we’re back at 4/1 as second favourites with www.leroijohnny.com/fr, closely followed by 9/2 Villarreal.
Arsenal had been very convincing in the group stage, winning all six of our matches versus Molde, Rapid Vienna and Dundalk. We scored 20 goals, conceding five with our 2-1 win in Vienna the only game we didn’t win by at least two goals.
Our only tough tie in the road to the quarter-finals had been the Round of 32 victory over Benfica, where we drew the first leg 1-1 ‘away’ in Italy before scoring an 87th minute winner at the Emirates.
A 3-1 victory away to Olympiacos in the first leg of the last leg made for a comfortable second leg, even if we lost 1-0 at home.
Slavia Prague have seen off two good teams to get to this stage, particularly in eliminating Leicester City, who sit third in the Premier League. However, our odds are as short as 2/5 to qualify from this tie despite the disappointing first leg result. We are 5/6 to win in 90 minutes at the Sinobo Stadium.
Should we reach the final four then either Villarreal or Dinamo Zagreb await us, with the first leg at the end of April. You can certainly expect our odds to lift the trophy to be cut somewhat at this stage.
Manchester United are arguably set for the more difficult of the semi-finals among the Premier League sides, with Roma and Ajax considered by many as much stronger sides. The bookmakers are heavily favouring Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side regardless.
