Confirmed line-ups: Rapid Vienna vs Arsenal – Partey starts along with Leno & Saka
Arsenal take on Rapid Vienna in our opening game of the Europa League group stages this evening.
Boss Mikel Arteta has made a number of changes from the side that lost to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday night but I’m a little surprised to see Bernd Leno starting in goal with Alex Runarsson on the bench.
Thankfully Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is rested for the Leicester clash on Sunday with Eddie Nketiah lining-up alongside Alexandre Lacazette in attack. Nicolas Pepe also keeps his place with Willian ruled out with a knock.
Granit Xhaka is given a breather so Thomas Partey is handed his full debut in midfield. Mohamed Elneny starts alongside Partey with Dani Ceballos ruled out with a bruised ankle that he picked up at the weekend.
Cedric Soares and Sead Kolasinac start along with Gabriel and David Luiz while Bukayo Saka is also selected so the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson have to settle for places on the bench.
These are the line-ups:
Arsenal
Leno, Cedric, David Luiz, Gabriel, Kolasinac, Pepe, Elneny, Partey, Saka, Nketiah, Lacazette
Subs: Runarsson, Macey, Bellerin, Tierney, Aubameyang, Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Nelson, Willock, Xhaka
Rapid Vienna
Strebinger, Barac, Hofmann, Stojkovic, Arase, Ljubicic, Grahovac, Ullmann, Fountas, Ritzmaier y Kara.
Subs: Sonnleitner, Schick, Petrovic, Alar, Unger, Gartler, Knasmullner, Greiml, Kitagawa, Sulzbacher, Ibrahimoglu, Savic
