Betting on sports has taken so many gambling forms outside of the UK. The United States Legalized sports betting fully in the year 2018, as they lifted the ban placed that sports betting was violating the constitution amendment. However, not all states accepted the decision immediately. Only Nevada was singled out to accept sports betting at first. Over the years, more states are easing and paving the way for sports betting.
Canada, on the other hand, is one country that has interesting feelings towards sports betting. In the 1800s, Canada banned any form of gambling, including sports betting as directed by the Criminal code of the country. Over time, things started to ease up in the country as some forms of gambling started to creep in, such as gambling on horse racing, Bingo, raffle draws. That was around the early 1900s.
In the late 1990s, the Canadian government made amendments to the country’s criminal code. The amendments are such that they accepted and regulated casinos, lotteries, slot machines, racing. They begin to break the barriers of the previous criminal code by the establishment of Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Gambling Hall in Dawson City, Yukon, Canada, in the year 1971. The land-based casino became the first of its kind throughout Canada. Now over the years, the country has grown lenient and now accept various forms of sports betting. As a resident of the country, you can place bets on different sports such as football.
The Evolution of Sportsbooks Outside Of the UK
Sports betting sportsbook has evolved over the years, since existence, both in the UK and outside of the UK. The United States, for one, has seen a great advancement in that area of sports betting. Bookmaking started in the year 1795 and they are responsible for providing sports and events to bet on for regular punters. It started from the land-based sportsbooks. Now, technology is all advanced, and people rarely visit the land-based bookmakers anymore. Outside of the UK, online sportsbooks have taken over the industry.
Now players make a wager on their Personal Computers, mobile devices, and depending on the country outside of the UK; the different government have different rules and regulations as regards the legality of sportsbooks in their country, so as a resident of a country, make the laws known unto yourself before dabbling into sports betting.
