Europa League last-32 draw: Arsenal face tricky trip to Greece
Arsenal will face Olympiacos in the knockout stages of the Europa League following today’s draw in Switzerland.
We looked to be breezing through Group F after winning our opening three games but our form disappeared and we went into the final game needing a result having lost to Eintracht Frankfurt on matchday 5 and drawing at Vitoria on matchday 4.
Arsenal came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at Standard Liege last week and it looked as though we may have to settle for second place but Vitoria scored two late goals to beat Frankfurt so we progressed as group winners.
We’ll now face a tricky trip to Greece after being drawn to face Olympiacos after they dropped into the Europa League having finished third in their Champions League group which contained Bayern Munich and Tottenham.
Arsenal could definitely have gotten a much easier draw as it’s always tough to play in Greece with their hostile crowds but we should still be confident of progressing to the last-16.
The first leg will take place ion Greece on February 20 after our home game with Newcastle with the return leg at the Emirates on the 27th after we host Everton.
Elsewhere in the draw, Man Utd got another easy one as they’ll face Brugge while Wolves will play Espanyol.
