Lacazette injury update: Sky Sports reveal comeback date for Arsenal star

Alexandre Lacazette is set to return to training next week and be in contention for Arsenal’s trip to Sheffield United after the international break, according to Sky Sports News.

Lacazette has endured a frustrating campaign as he’s struggled for full fitness after suffering an ankle injury during our Emirates Cup clash with Lyon in pre-season at the end of July.

The Frenchman tried to soldier on and featured in three of our opening four games – scoring two goals – but he aggravated the issue during our draw with Tottenham at the start of September.

Laca was told he needed a prolonged period of rest to heal the injury and was forced to sit out our last four Premier League matches against Watford, Aston Villa, Man Utd and Bournemouth as well as cup games with Nottingham Forest, Eintracht Frankfurt and Standard Liege.

However, it looks like Lacazette is ready to make his comeback as Sky Sports News are reporting that his rehab has gone to plan and the striker will resume training next week with the intention of being available for Arsenal’s trip to Sheffield United after the international break.

His return would be a welcome boost to Unai Emery as the boss has been reliant on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to lead the line during Lacazette’s absence. Auba has been in superb form – scoring 8 times in 10 games this season – but we need to ease the pressure on his shoulders and give him some support in attack.

As long as things go well when Laca resumes training next week, Arsenal fans can look forward to seeing our exciting front three of Laca-Auba-Pepe playing together again at Bramall Lane a week on Monday.

Hopefully the Arsenal players can come through the international break free of injury as it would mean Emery would have a fully-fit squad to choose from against Sheffield United.

Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney are all fully fit and in contention so Lacazette’s imminent return will clear the treatment room with Arsenal having no injury concerns to worry about – which will be a big boost.
