Arsenal hoping to seal £27.7m deal after agreeing contract terms with player
According to TuttoSport, Arsenal are hoping to push through a £27.7m (€30m) deal to sign Daniele Rugani after agreeing personal terms with the Juventus centre-back
Unai Emery is still desperately trying to add a top class central defender to his squad before the window closes tomorrow at 5pm and it looks like we’re going all-out for Rugani after reportedly failing with a move for Dayot Upamecano.
Rugani has been linked with Arsenal for several years and it looks like we’ve made another attempt to lure him to north London with TuttoSport claiming we’ve agreed terms with the 25-year-old ahead of a potential move.
This is supported by SportItalia journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who says Arsenal have agreed a contract worth around £3.6million (€4m) and are now trying to thrash out a deal with Juventus that would see us sign Rugani on an initial two-year loan.
Pedulla says Juve want an obligation to buy clause inserted into the deal that would force Arsenal to pay around £36m (€40m) in 2021, however, Tuttosport suggest that Arsenal are ready to pay £27.7m (€30m) after an initial loan period.
The Italian publication says Juve chief Fabio Paratici will make a final decision over the offer today as Arsenal try to push through a deal before the window closes on Thursday evening.
Rugani has struggled to establish himself as a first team regular at Juventus with Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci keeping him out of the team and he’ll fall even further down the pecking order following the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax.
It looks like Arsenal are offering the Italian international the chance to be a regular here in England so hopefully we can get a deal wrapped-up before the window slams shut as it would be a disaster to head into the new season without a new centre-back.
Laurent Koscielny has left for Bordeaux, Shkodran Mustafi is a disaster, Rob Holding isn’t 100% fit following his serious knee injury while Calum Chambers is nothing more than an average defender so we need reinforcements urgently.
