Arsenal v Rennes: Top betting tips and latest odds

Arsenal will have to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg when we take on Rennes in the Europa League last-16 at the Emirates on Thursday night. We opened the scoring early on and were looking comfortable in France last week before Sokratis was sent off just before half-time and a second half collapse has left Unai Emery’s men with a lot to do in the second leg. However, we come in to the game off the back of a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Manchester United last weekend that has seen us climb back in to the top four of the Premier League so the players will be in confident mood.
Score prediction
Rennes are a dangerous side but we still fancy Arsenal to get the job done on home soil with a 3-0 win – which can be backed at odds of 9/1. My ‘banker bet’ is Arsenal to win and over 2.5 match goals which can be backed at odds of 6/4. For those who want higher odds, I like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score first in a 3-0 Arsenal win at 39/1.
Home form
Another reason to be positive is Arsenal’s superb form at the Emirates this season as we’ve won our last five home games in all competitions and have won five of our last seven Europa League ties at the Emirates.
Arsenal have also scored 14 goals in our last five home matches – an average of 2.8 – which could prove pivotal as we need to score at least twice against Rennes in order to progress to the quarter finals.
Arsenal are the 1/4 favourites to win the game and 4/5 to qualify for the last-8 while Rennes are a huge 11/1 to win the second leg and 10/11 to progress despite holding a 3-1 first leg lead.
Expect goals
Arsenal have scored at least two goals in each of their last eight home victories and can be backed at odds of 10/11 to score 3 or more goals in this game, which looks like a decent bet. Arsenal have plenty of firepower with the likes of Aubameyang, Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Iwobi so I expect to see us score a few goals in this match.
Rennes have also been in fine goal-scoring form of late as they’ve scored at least two goals in each of their last four Europa League games so both teams to score at odds of even money and over 2.5 match goals at 5/4 looks tempting.
