[Photos] 21-year-old trains with Arsenal as first team prepare for Tottenham trip
Unai Emery has been putting his Arsenal squad through their final paces as we prepare to take on Tottenham in the North London Derby on Saturday afternoon.
We head to Wembley sitting one point clear of fifth-placed Manchester United so we need a positive result to boost our top four hopes, however, a win would also see us close the gap on third-placed Tottenham to just one point.
Arsenal were handed a double injury boost ahead of the game with Laurent Koscielny and Stephan Lichtsteiner able to return to full training following knocks. Koscielny picked up a knee problem during the closing stages of Wednesday night’s 5-1 win over Bournemouth while Lichtsteiner missed that match with a back problem.
However, the experienced defenders took part in full training again today and have been passed fit to take on Tottenham tomorrow lunchtime, giving Emery valuable options in defence.
The boss is also able to call upon Ainsley Maitland-Niles again after he recovered from an illness that kept him out of the last three matches in all competitions. The 21-year-old enjoyed a run at right-back / right wing-back before his illness so we’ll have to wait and see whether Emery recalls him against Tottenham this weekend.
The lads looked in good spirits at London Colney this afternoon so hopefully we’ll still be in a positive mood after the match against Spurs tomorrow lunchtime.
