Arsenal confirm huge fresh injury blow – attacker ruled out until February 2019
Arsenal have confirmed a huge injury blow with the news that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been ruled out for six weeks with with a fractured metatarsal.
Mkhitaryan missed Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Burnley after suffering a foot injury during the Carabao Cup defeat to Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium last week.
The club didn’t initially put a time-scale on his recovery while the injury was being further assessed by the medical team but the results are finally in and it’s a nightmare for Arsenal as we’ve confirmed Mkhitaryan has fractured his metatarsal.
The Armenian international is now expected to be ruled out for at least six weeks meaning he’l miss the festive period and all of January before returning to full training in early February.
Nacho Monreal is also a doubt for the trip to Brighton on Boxing Day after being forced off with a tight hamstring during the win over Burnley while Shkodran Mustafi may also miss the game as he’s still not back in full training yet from his hamstring problem.
Hector Bellerin is still two weeks away from making his comeback from a calf issue and youngster Emile Smith Rowe is also out as he continues to nurse a hip injury that’s hampered him this month.
With Dinos Mavropanos, Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding all out with long-term injuries, it means Unai Emery will be without up to eight players for the trip to Brighton on Wednesday evening.
