Video: Crystal Palace 2-2 Arsenal: Zaha dive denies Gunners as winning streak ends
Arsenal’s winning streak came to an end as a controversial late penalty gifted Crystal Palace a 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park this afternoon.
It was a poor first half from Arsenal yet again as we struggled to get going or create many clear cut chances and Palace were by far the better side in the opening forty-five minutes.
It looked like we might get away with it and be level at half-time but a brainless challenge from Shkodran Mustafi on Cheikhou Kouyaté gifted Palace a penalty on the stroke of half-time and Luka Milivojevic converted for 1-0.
However, we made it 1-1 just seven minutes in to the second half as Granit Xhaka rifled home a stunning free-kick in to the top corner from a ridiculous angle.
Arsenal were then rather fortunate to make it 2-1 in the 56th minute. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s far post finish was adjudged to have crossed the line following a corner but replays showed Alexandre Lacazette had handed in the build up.
Our good fortunate certainly deserted us in the 82nd minute as the referee bought Wilfried Zaha’s blatant dive to gift Palace another penalty. Milivojevic made it 2-2 from the spot to salvage a point for the hosts and end Arsenal’s winning streak.
