Video: Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal: Ozil on target to secure deserved win for Gunners
Mesut Ozil scored what turned out to be the winning goal as Arsenal got a deserved 2-1 victory over Newcastle following an excellent second half display.
We were woeful in the first half as we struggled to get going and failed to register a single effort on target during a dire opening forty-five minutes that saw the two sides go in at half-time at 0-0.
However, Unai Emery worked his magic at the break as we came flying out the blocks and opened the scoring in the 49th minute with Granit Xhaka firing home a wonderful free-kick.
It didn’t take long for us to double our advantage as a good move down the left flank led to Alexandre Lacazette seeing a shot blocked but it fell to Mesut Ozil 15 yards out and he passed the ball home for 2-0.
We still search for that illusive clean sheet as we let Ciaran Clarke headed home unmarked at the far post in stoppage time to make it 2-1 but we held on to secure a third consecutive victory.
