Europa League draw: Arsenal face trips to Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Portugal
Arsenal have been drawn to face Sporting Lisbon, Qarabag and Vorskla in the group stages of the Europa League.
We blew a golden chance to win the competition last year after somehow drawing 1-1 against 10-men Atletico Madrid in the semi-final first leg and lost to the eventual winner in the return leg in Spain.
A Europa League triumph would have booked our place in the Champions League this season and of course we missed out on Europe’s top table after finishing sixth in the Premier League so we’re back in the Europa.
We’ve been drawn in Group E and we’ll face 2005 finalists Sporting Lisbon, Azerbaijan outfit FK Qarabag and Ukrainian side Vorskla for a place in the knockout stages.
It would be great to win a European cup and we have the perfect man in charge to achieve that aim as Unai Emery won 3 Europa League titles during his time with Sevilla.
Let’s hope he can continue that excellent record at Arsenal and we’ve got some exciting away trips to look forward to over the coming months.
