Arsenal drawn to face Championship opposition in Carabao Cup 3rd round
Arsenal have been drawn to face Brentford at the Emirates Stadium in the third round of the Carabao Cup after the draw was conducted this evening.
We’ll take on the Championship side in north London at the end of September and we’ll be looking to go one better this year after being beaten by Manchester City in the final at Wembley last season.
No doubt Unai Emery will follow in the foot-steps of Arsene Wenger by using this competition to give his fringe players and youngsters some first team action.
So we should see Bernd Leno get some game-time after being left on the bench in favour of Petr Cech so far this season while fellow summer signing Stephan Lichtsteiner should also get a run-out.
The likes of Rob Holding, Mohamed Elneny, Danny Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette could also be handed starts along with youngsters like Emile Smith Rowe, Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah.
