Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina has agreed personal terms ahead of his proposed move to Besiktas, according to Sky Sports News.

Ospina has been playing second fiddle to Petr Cech in recent years with the Colombian international our nominated ‘cup keeper’ as he was restricted to playing in the Champions League and FA Cup.

The 29-year-old has fallen even further down the pecking order after we splashed out around £19m on German keeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen so Ospain has been expected to leave this summer.

Besiktas have been strongly linked with a move for Ospina and we reportedly tried to include him in a player-plus-swap deal for target Domagoj Vida but the Turks wanted separate negotiations.

Our move for Vida has come to nothing but it looks like Ospina has secured his exit from Arsenal as Sky Sports claim he has now agreed personal terms with Besiktas.

There are no details over how much Besiktas are going to pay Arsenal for Ospina’s signature but figures of around £5m-£6m have been touted in the media in recent days.

The transfer window in England is now shut but we can still sell players abroad so there is no rush to get this transfer completed but it looks inevitable that Ospina will be joining Besiktas soon.

Unfortunately Arsenal didn’t secure any further arrivals today. I’m pleased with the business we did as we plugged some holes that needed filled and Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Leno look great long-term prospects.

However, I still think we lack pace and quality in central defence and we have a real lack of pace and width in attack so it looks like Emery is going to have to rely on the youngsters at least until January.
