[Photos] Arsenal’s double fitness boost as duo train ahead of CSKA Moscow tie
Arsenal have virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from after Petr Cech and Danny Welbeck trained ahead of our Europa League clash with CSKA Moscow tomorrow night.
Cech was initially expected to miss the game on Thursday evening after being forced to sit out Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Stoke City with a minor groin problem.
However, the 35-year-old was able to return to full training today and has been declared available for selection – although David Ospina is still favourite to start having been our ‘cup keeper’ for the entire season.
Welbeck was considered as a minor doubt to face CSKA after picking up a knock at the weekend but the attacker has also been passed fit after taking part in full training at London Colney.
It means we have virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from with Santi Cazorla the only significant absentee as he continues to recover from his Achilles injury.
Obviously Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ineligible so Alexandre Lacazette could be recalled up front after making his injury comeback off the bench against Stoke at the weekend.
Wenger gave little away at his pre-match press conference this morning but I hope the boss opts for Lacazette up front as he’s a million miles better than Welbeck.
