[Photos] Attacker missing but trio return to Arsenal training ahead of Cologne
Arsenal trio Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere all took part in training today ahead of our Europa League clash with Cologne but Theo Walcott is still out through illness.
Giroud missed Saturday’s 2-0 North London Derby win over Tottenham due to a thigh injury that he sustained while playing for France during the international break.
Wilshere was an unused substitute at the weekend as he continues to try and force his way in to Arsene Wenger’s plans and he was absent from training on Tuesday.
Welbeck was also missing at London Colney yesterday having been named on the bench against Spurs after recently recovering from a groin injury that’s kept him out for the past month.
However, all three players were able to take part in full training this morning as the Arsenal squad prepares for our Europa League clash with Cologne tomorrow night.
I expect we’ll see all three of Wilshere, Giroud and Welbeck start the game as Wenger looks to give some game-time to his squad players while no doubt a few of the youngsters will also get a run out.
Most of the first team trained but I expect the majority won’t even travel to Germany as the boss rests his key men for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Burnley.
However, there was no Theo Walcott at training today so he’s set to miss his second game having sat out the win over Tottenham due to illness.
