Arsenal boss offers injury update on Ozil & Welbeck

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has provided an injury update on Danny Welbeck and Mesut Ozil ahead of our League Cup clash with Doncaster tomorrow night.
Welbeck limped out of our 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon after suffering a groin injury during the second half.
The England international is due to undergo a second scan today after the first one proved inconclusive but reports in the media suggest the attacker is facing at least four weeks on the sidelines.
Wenger has refused to put a specific timescale on Danny’s return but has confirmed he will be out until at least after the international break while the same can be said of Francis Coquelin – who’s nursing a hamstring injury.
It means the pair will miss upcoming games against Doncaster, West Bromwich Albion, BATE Borisov and Brighton but it remains to be seen whether they will be back in contention for the trip to Watford on October 14th.
The boss also provided the latest on Ozil after he missed our game with Chelsea at the weekend due to a minor knee injury. Wenger has confirmed Mesut is back in training but won’t feature against Doncaster tomorrow.
Wenger told Arsenal.com:
on Danny Welbeck…
Danny has a scan today, we don’t know how bad his groin injury is but he will certainly be out until the international break. Coquelin as well.
on Ozil…
Mesut is training again, but for tomorrow no [he will not feature]. He has a little inflammation of his knee.
It sounds like Ozil should be back in contention to face West Brom at the weekend but it’s a big blow to lose Welbeck over the coming weeks as he’s been in excellent form.
