[Photos] Arsenal dealt blow as key man misses training ahead of Chelsea clash
It looks like Arsenal have been dealt a huge blow ahead of our trip to Chelsea tomorrow as there was no sign of Mesut Ozil in training today.
Ozil didn’t feature during our Europa League win over Cologne on Thursday night and fans initially assumed the German international had been rested along with a number of other first team regulars.
However, Arsene Wenger later revealed that Ozil and Aaron Ramsey were carrying unspecified knocks so wouldn’t have been available for selection to face the Bundesliga side.
The boss said he was confident both players would be passed fit to face Chelsea on Sunday afternoon and Ramsey is expected to be in the squad after taking part in full training today.
However, the news isn’t so positive on Ozil as the playmaker was nowhere to be seen on the training pitches at London Colney this afternoon as Wenger and his coaching staff put the players through their final paces.
It means Ozil is now considered a huge doubt to face the defending champions as it’s highly unlikely Wenger will risk him if this mysterious injury was enough to keep him out of training today.
The news will be a big blow as we’ll certainly miss a player of Ozil’s quality but it might end up being a blessing in disguise as Mesut is often criticised for ‘going missing’ in the big away games.
