Lucas Perez has finally sealed a move away from Arsenal after completing a season-long loan back to former club Deportivo La Coruna today.
Perez only joined Arsenal from Depor in a £17m deal last summer but his time in north London hasn’t gone to plan as he’s struggled to establish himself.
The 28-year-old started just 2 Premier League games and 9 across all competitions with the likes of Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott all ahead of him in the pecking order.
Despite his lack of regular starts, Perez still managed to score an impresive 7 goals and provide a further 5 assists – including a hat-trick against Basel in the Champions League.
The Spaniard was understandably upset by his treatment by Arsene Wenger but the last straw came when we gave away his No.9 shirt to Alexandre Lacazette without even telling him.
A move this summer was pretty-much guaranteed and while there has been plenty of interest from fellow Premier League clubs, Perez has always favoured a return to Spain.
And he got his wish today as Arsenal announced on Arsenal.com that Perez has rejoined Depor on a season long loan deal which doesn’t include any obligation to buy next summer. That means Perez will return to the Emirates at the end of the season and have to try and secure a permanent move then.
According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal wanted £13.8m for a sale but Depor refused to meet that valuation so they’ve paid around £4m in a loan fee for the season.

You can’t deny that Perez has been poorly treated during his time at the Emirates as he was never given a chance to prove himself, despite showing real promise when given a rare opportunity, so I hope his loan move goes well this year.
