Arsenal to launch move for £35.75m star as Wenger plots double swoop
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal will launch a bid to sign Jean-Michael Seri during the latter stages of the window while Arsene Wenger is also ready to submit another offer for Thomas Lemar.
The boss has confirmed he’s looking to bring in further reinforcements having only signed Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette so far and Lemar has been widely considered to be our next target.
The 21-year-old is one of the most exciting young attackers in Europe after helping Monaco win the Ligue 1 title last season thanks to an excellent contribution of 14 goals and 17 assists.
Monaco are proving extremely difficult to deal with as they’ve knocked back three Arsenal offers so far – the latest believed to be in the region of £45m – as they are desperate not to see their squad dismantled any further.
However, that doesn’t appear to have deterred Arsenal as the Daily Mail claim Lemar remains our No.1 target and we’re ready to test Monaco’s resolve with a fourth offer for the winger.
And it looks like Wenger is eyeing a double swoop as he looks to strengthen our midfield options as the newspaper says Nice star Jean-Michael Seri is also on Arsenal’s radar.
The 25-year-old enjoyed an excellent campaign last year to help Nice finish third in Ligue 1 and the Daily Star reported last week that Arsenal are favourites to sign the player – although Nice are holding out for the full value of his £35.75m buyout clause.
As Lemar is our main priority, Wenger is in no rush to move for Seri but the Daily Mail does claim that Arsenal are poised to launch a move for the Ivory Coast international during the closing stages of the summer.
If we could get Lemar and Seri on board as well as keep Sanchez, then I think we’d have an excellent squad that would be filled with depth and quality in practically every position.

The one thing missing would be another dominant centre-back but that doesn’t seem to be on Wenger’s agenda so I’d consider it a welcome bonus if we signed one before the window shuts.
