Szczesny leaves heartfelt message to Arsenal on Instagram after joining Juventus
Wojciech Szczesny has left a heartfelt message to Arsenal on Instagram after completing his move to Juventus today.
Szczesny has been with Arsenal since joining the club as a 16-year-old and progressed through the youth ranks to become our number one in 2011.
After enjoying a spell between the sticks, the Polish international lost his confidence and was eventually replaced when Petr Cech arrived in 2015 from Chelsea.
Szczesny was sent out on loan to AS Roma where he has impressed during the last two years and many fans hoped he would return to compete with Cech for the first team shirt at the Emirates.
However, it soon became apparent that the 27-year-old saw his long-term future away from north London and a move to Serie A champions Juventus was soon on the cards.
Szczesny has now completed his switch to the Turin giants with Arsenal confirming the news on Arsenal.com earlier this afternoon. The club didn’t disclose the fee but Sky Sports claim we’ll receive up to £14m including add ons.
It’s a sad end to what once promised to be an excellent career for Szczesny at Arsenal and I’m personally gutted he’s left. I still can’t get my head around how he’s considered good enough to be Buffon’s replacement at Juve but not Cech’s at Arsenal.
Unfortunately, I think he fell out with Wenger two years ago when we signed Cech and they haven’t been able to resolve their differences so we lose a hugely talented goalkeeper.
Szczesny has now taken to Instagram to share a lovely departing message to everyone involved with Arsenal FC. Check it out:

I only wish Arsenal would do what managers would have done 20 years ago as far as Sanchez is concerned. That is refuse him a transfer and put him on the bench for 12 months. It would be very costly BUT it would treat this self opinionated and extremely selfish player that he is a member of a team who has a contract most players can only dream about. More impressed with Szczesny’s farewell statement. This puts Sanchez to shame.
