Arsenal boss keen on signing £26m Brazilian star
According to a report in the Daily Star, Arsenal remain keen on signing £26m-rated Nice defender Dalbert this summer but face stiff competition from the likes of Inter Milan.
Arsene Wenger has moved quickly in the transfer market to snap-up Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac but the boss has confirmed he’s still in the market for more new recruits.
With Nacho Monreal impressing at centre-back during the closing stages of last season and Kieran Gibbs expected to leave over the coming weeks it looks like Wenger may be looking to bring in another left-back.
The Daily Star claim that Arsenal are interested in signing Dalbert and cite a report from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who said recently that we had made a ‘big offer’ for the defender.
The 23-year-old impressed in Ligue 1 last season after joining Nice from Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2016 and he’s been tipped to break in to the Brazil squad ahead of next summers World Cup.
However, it seems we have a fight on our hands to sign the South American as the Daily Star are quoting a report from Calcio Mercato that says Dalbert is ready to turn down Arsenal’s advances as he favours a move to Inter.
The Italian outlet claims that the Serie A giants have recently submitted an improved offer worth £13.3m with a further £4.4m in add ons but the bid still falls short of his £26m buy out clause – which Nice want paid in full to sell their man.
Obviously until Inter agree a deal we still have a chance of signing Dalbert but if the player has his heart set on a move to the San Siro then we should probably just turn our attention to other targets.

I personally don’t think a new left-back should be a priority right now as we have other areas of the squad that need addressing far more urgently so I won’t be too disappointed if we miss out on Dalbert.
