Arsenal eyeing swoop for £17.5m Serie A striker

By on June 19, 2017

According to a report in the Mirror, Arsenal have identified AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca as a potential target as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in a new forward this summer.

The boss is facing arguably the toughest summer of his career as not only does he need to resolve the future of several key players but he also needs to build a squad capable of contending for the title next season.

A new goal-scorer is needed if that’s to happen and while we’ve been linked with a host of top names such as Mbappe, Lacazette and Aubameyang, a slightly less exciting target has emerged.

The Mirror are citing reports from France that claim Arsenal have joined the likes of Everton and Marseille in the race to sign AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca.

The 30-year-old is expected to leave the San Siro this summer as they look to revamp their squad and the newspaper says they’ll sell Bacca for around £17.5m.

The Colombian international has been linked with Arsenal several times in the past and it seems Wenger has now renewed his interest as he looks to bring in another forward this summer.

Bacca enjoyed a decent season at Milan having scored 14 times in 34 appearances and has a approximately a goal every two games during his 2-year spell in Italy.

However, I’d be extremely disappointed if he’s the striker we end up buying this summer as he’s not near the level we need to be considered title challengers next season.

We’ve been crying out for a world class striker for years now so to end up with Bacca would be a farce. Personally, I’d rather we gave Lucas Perez a proper chance to shine next season rather than buy Bacca but Wenger clearly has an issue with the Spaniard.
