Arsenal submit formal £17m offer for Serie A attacker
According to The Sun, Arsenal have tabled a formal £17.6m offer for Juan Cuadrado as Arsene Wenger looks for potential replacements for Alexis Sanchez.
The boss is facing a hectic summer with plenty of incomings and outgoings expected as well as having to sort out a number of contract situations, not least Mr Sanchez.
Our Chilean superstar is approaching the final year of his deal and is yet to sign an extension with the club struggling to find a financial agreement while Alexis also has concerns about our competitiveness on the pitch.
It’s all led to the belief that Sanchez will push for a move this summer and despite Wenger’s protestations that we’ll force him to see-out the final year of his contract, the likelihood is we’ll cash-in.
That would leave a huge hole to fill in the squad and The Sun are reporting that Wenger has now identified former Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado as the man to fill the void.
The newspaper claims Arsenal have tabled an opening £17.6m bid but Juventus are demanding closer to £30m for the Colombian international’s signature this summer.
Not only that, but The Sun also suggest that we’ll face stiff competition from Tottenham as our north London rivals are also supposedly keen on bringing Cuadrado back to England.
It’s difficult to know what to make of this report as there is so much gossip flying about these days but I would be shocked if Cuadrado is the man Wenger seriously thinks is capable of replacing Alexis.
The 29-year-old flopped during a six-month spell at Chelsea and has struggled to nail down a place at Juventus so he’s nothing special at all and nowhere near the caliber of Sanchez.

Juve are keen to sell as they’ve already lined-up Douglas Costa as a replacement but I don’t for one minute think Cuadrado is going to end up at Arsenal and question the validity of The Sun’s report entirely.
Surely if we do end up having to cash-in on Sanchez the boss has more ambitious targets in mind than Juan Cuadrado?!
