[Photos] Key Arsenal man misses training ahead of Chelsea clash
It looks like Arsenal have been dealt a major blow ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup final with Chelsea as Shkodran Mustafi was nowhere to be seen at training today judging by the latest photos published by the club.
Mustafi missed the win over Everton on Sunday after developing signs of concussion having taken a kick to the head during the win over Sunderland last Tuesday.
The German international has been unable to train since but the Mirror reported last night that Mustafi was confident he’d be fit to face Chelsea on Saturday evening.
However, it looks like the defender is running out of time to prove his fitness as Mustafi doesn’t feature in any of the photos from training today that have been published on Arsenal’s official Getty Images account.
Rumours online suggest Wenger is going to make a late check on the 25-year-old on Saturday morning to determine his availability but it looks increasingly likely that Mustafi will be ruled out of the FA Cup final.
That would be a MAJOR blow as we’re already without Koscielny through suspension while Gabriel has been ruled out for up to eight weeks with knee ligament damage.
If means that if Mustafi joins them on the sidelines, then Arsene Wenger may have to hand Per Mertesacker his first start of the season – which is hardly ideal against the newly-crowned Premier League champions.
Anyway, the good news is that Alexis Sanchez, Kieran Gibbs and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all took part in full training today so will be in the squad tomorrow.
Here are some photos from today’s session:
