Kroenke now considering selling Arsenal as Usmanov plots second bid
The situation surrounding the ownership of Arsenal just got a lot more interesting this morning with reports that Stan Kroenke is considering selling as Alisher Usmanov plots a second bid for the club.
News broke over the weekend that Usmanov had launched a sensational £1 billion move to buy Kroenke’s 67% controlling stake in Arsenal.
It appeared any deal was dead in the water as the BBC reported that Kroenke had no intention to sell and was fully committed to staying at the club and making Arsenal a competitive force again.
This prompted fan protests against the American businessman with supporters making their feelings clear on social media while chants against Kroenke were sung throughout the Everton game yesterday.
That seems to have made an impression as according to talkSPORT presenter Matt Scott, Kroenke is now considering performing a stunning u-turn and selling Arsenal.
Scott says that the chants against Kroenke has led to his son, Josh, and two other board members applying pressure to Kroenke to do business with Usmanov and sell the club.
He said on Twitter:
Shock news: Kroenke camp said to be wavering over Usmanov bid. Hearing his son, Josh, and two #AFC board members are pressuring him to sell.

The information comes from Sky Sports presenter Jim White, who was a guest on Scott’s talkSPORT show this morning and attended the Everton match on Sunday as a special guest of Usmanov.
I listened to White speaking on talkSPORT this morning and he had some interesting insights as not only did he say that Usmanov is due to have a meeting on Wednesday where a second bid will be discussed, but he claims Josh Kroenke is now keen to hold talks with the Uzbek billionaire.
It’s a fascinating situation and I’m sure there are going to be plenty of twists and turns but I just hope Usmanov is determined to buy the club as money talks. If he pays enough, Kroenke will eventually sell.
**UPDATE** Kroenke has now issued a statement insisting his shares aren’t for sale. Sigh. This could get messy…..
