Arsenal injury blow as Shkodran Mustafi limps off against Stoke
It looks like Arsenal have been dealt a major injury blow after Shkodran Mustafi limped off against Stoke today with a suspected hamstring injury.
The German international once again lined-up alongside Laurent Koscielny at the back but his afternoon was cut short after he went down clutching the back of his left leg in the 24th minute.
Mustafi limped off and headed straight down the tunnel with the physio after being replaced by Hector Bellerin, with Gabriel moving in to the middle of defence.
We’ll have to wait and see how serious the injury is but even a minor hamstring injury is likely to keep him out for at least two weeks, which would be a real blow as Mustafi would miss crucial trips to Everton and Manchester City while he’d also be a doubt for the visit of West Brom on Boxing Day.
Any longer than 2 weeks and Mustafi would also miss further games against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Preston North End at the start of 2017 so let’s hope for good news!
At the time of writing, we’re currently level at 1-1 with Stoke at half-time with Theo Walcott cancelling out a very generous penalty which was converted by Charlie Adam.
