“I like Arsenal” – Liverpool flop opens door to Gunners move

Former Liverpool and AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has opened the door to the idea of joining Arsenal after admitting his affection for the club.

Balotelli made his name at Inter Milan before spending three years with Manchester City where he helped the Citizens win the Premier League title in 2011/12.

After a series of bust-ups at the Etihad, he then endured a disappointing one-year spell at AC Milan before Liverpool took a punt on the hot-headed Italian international in 2014.

It’s safe to say his time on Merseyside was a disaster as Balotelli managed just one goal in his 16 league appearances before eventually joining Nice on a free transfer last summer.

The 26-year-old has rediscovered his form in France having scored 7 goals in 10 appearances so far sparking speculation that he could have another go at making it back in England next season.

However, Balotelli has said that if he was ever to return to the Premier League he would never play for Liverpool again and while he admitted that Man City have a special place in his heart, the other club he ‘likes’ is Arsenal.

The striker is quoted as saying by the Express:

“[If I go back to England] for sure not Liverpool,”

“Because I found myself [performing] very bad in Liverpool. I said the team was good and the fans are amazing, but I would never go back to Liverpool.”

“The first one I think of in England is Manchester City, and the second team I always like is Arsenal. That doesn’t mean I’ll go to play there. I just like them.”

Balotelli is one of football’s bad boys and trouble always seems to follow him around so we’d be mental to even contemplate signing the Italian.

I do think he has natural ability but his attitude stinks and I feel that will see him finish his career as one of those players who didn’t truly fulfill their potential.
