Arsenal ace limps off with knock after playing for his country

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina looks to have picked up a knock after limping off following Colombia’s 3-2 victory over Bolivia last night.

Ospina started for his country in their crucial World Cup qualifier and despite conceding two goals, the 27-year-old ended up on the winning side as Colombia edged closer to securing their place at Russia 2018 with a 3-2 win.

However, the Arsenal stopper required lengthy treatment after going down in severe pain after colliding with an opponent while trying to collect a routine cross.

Ospina was eventually able to carry on and he completed the full ninety minutes to help his nation to a vital win, however, he did so in some discomfort and had to be helped from the field at the final whistle as he limped down the tunnel.

It’s not clear what the precise nature of the injury is but the likelihood is that Ospina has aggravated the back injury that he sustained during our 2-0 win over Everton last Saturday.

David required treatment after being caught on his back by Romelu Lukaku during the second half at Goodison Park but carried on in pain and was considered as a doubt for Colombia’s match last night.

He passed a late fitness test but it looks as though he may have made the injury worse and we’ll now have to await further news to see if the injury is serious enough to rule him out of Colombia’s WC qualifier against Ecuador on Tuesday.

If he misses out, then he’ll be a doubt for Arsenal’s clash with Watford next weekend making it imperative that Petr Cech recovers from his calf injury over the next seven days.
