Arsenal forward pulls out of training after picking-up knock
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott could miss England’s friendly against Germany on Saturday night after pulling out of training due to a dead leg, Roy Hodgson has confirmed.
Despite his questionable club form in recent months, Walcott was selected for England’s upcoming double-header during the international break and was expected to feature against the Germans in Berlin tomorrow evening.
However, the 27-year-old is now a major doubt for the game after Hodgson confirmed Walcott has been forced to miss training today after suffering a dead leg.
With the likes of Jamie Vardy, Daniel Sturridge, Harry Kane and Arsenal team-mate Danny Welbeck all vying for places in Hodgson’s Euro 2016 squad this summer, it will be a big blow for Theo if he’s ruled out of the game tomorrow as he’d have been desperate to impress against the World Champions.
But a dead leg isn’t serious and shouldn’t keep him on the sidelines for long so even if Walcott does miss out on Saturday, he should be available for next weeks clash with Holland and almost certainly be fine for our Premier League game with Watford a week on Saturday.
Here is what Hodgson told reporters at his press conference earlier:
Hodgson confirms that @theowalcott will not train tonight after picking up a dead leg in training. #england
