Arsene Wenger offers positive update on injured midfielder
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has offered a positive update on Aaron Ramsey after describing his injury as a ‘small alert’.
Ramsey limped out of our FA Cup fifth round replay win over Hull City on Tuesday night after suffering a thigh injury just 15 minutes after coming on as a second half substitute.
Gabriel and Per Mertesacker also picked up knocks at the KC Stadium but Wenger suggested after the game that it was Ramsey’s injury that was the most serious.
It looked like we were set to lose the Welsh international for around six weeks with the Telegraph reporting this morning that Arsenal’s medical team feared Ramsey had torn his thigh muscle.
However, the boss appears to have now played down that speculation after telling Arsenal.com this afternoon that’s Rambo’s injury is only a ‘small alert’, although he also said they weren’t yet sure about the full extent of the injury.
on Ramsey…
There is a small alert, we don’t know how bad it is.
So it looks like the club feel Ramsey’s injury is only ‘small’, which is in direct contrast to what the newspapers were saying this morning, but we won’t know the full extent of the problem until scan results come back.
So while Arsene’s update looks positive on the face of it, I won’t be getting too excited until we get the official diagnosis as it wouldn’t surprise me if Ramsey is still ruled out for the standard ‘3-4 weeks’, which will end up being a couple of months on the sidelines.
