Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has offered another update on Jack Wilshere and is hoping the midfielder will finally be available for selection after the next international break.
Wilshere is yet to feature this season after suffering a fractured fibula in training on the eve of our Community Shield clash with Chelsea way back in early August.
The midfielder was initially only expected to be out for around three months but he’s suffered a number of setbacks throughout his recovery which have kept him on the sidelines until now.
However, it looks like there could finally be light at the end of the tunnel as Wenger told reporters at his press conference this morning that Jack should be back in 3-4 weeks time, meaning he could be available after the international break.
Wenger is quoted as saying by Arsenal.com:
on if Jack Wilshere is running…
Not yet. He is going to plan. He is doing well but we think three to four weeks. Maybe he will be available [after the international break].
Sounds great. The only problem is we’ve been hearing Wilshere is ‘3-4 weeks away’ for about two months now, so I’m not holding my breath that he’ll be back in 3-4 weeks this time.
I personally think we should just write Wilshere off in our heads for the rest of the season. If he manages to get himself fit enough to play some part in our run-in, then it’ll be a bonus.
