“I’m back on the pitch” – Arsenal star offers injury update

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has offered an update on his recovery and says there is light at the end of the tunnel as he looks to make his long-awaited comeback.
Wilshere hasn’t featured this season after suffering a fractured fibula in training on the eve of our Community Shield clash with Chelsea in early August 2015.
The 24-year-old was only initially only expected to be out for around three months but unsurprisingly, he’s suffered a number of setbacks in his recovery along the way.
Jack was in-line to make his comeback just before Christmas but was ruled out once again after suffering a setback which was expected to keep him on the sidelines until late February.
Arsene Wenger told reporters earlier this week that Wilshere was progressing well in his rehabilitation and it looks as though the midfielder is now closing in on his return to first team action as he’s told Arsenal.com that he’s back on the training pitch and building up his fitness.
Jack admits that it’s been another frustrating period for him but says there is light at the end of the tunnel and he’s starting to think about getting back involved with the first team.
He told the clubs website:
“[My recovery is] going well. I’m back on the pitch and I’m just trying to build my fitness up because everyone knows how tough it is to play in the Premier League. I’m working on it and I’m slowly getting there.
“Sometimes it’s been difficult to stay positive, especially after the injuries that I’ve had which have been frustrating, but as the injury goes, you get closer to full fitness and you see the light at the end of the tunnel, then you start to think about coming back and getting involved in the team.”
Wilshere is only doing individual light training which just involved running and he doesn’t name any specific comeback date but Arsene suggested it would be at least another month before the midfielder would be back in contention, so we should see him back in the squad around early March.
His return will be a major boost as we’ve suffered a lot of injuries in midfield this season and we desperately miss a ball-playing central midfielder with Jack and Santi Cazorla on the sidelines.
Hopefully Jack’s comeback this time goes more smoothly and he can get back on the playing field as soon as possible to help us during the run-in.
