Arsenal boss involved in tunnel bust-up after Southampton game
According to the Mirror, Arsene Wenger was involved in a bust-up with Ronald Koeman in the tunnel after our frustrating 0-0 draw with Southampton last night.
We missed a number of chances to secure the three points with Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Laurent Koscielny all missing golden opportunities to break the deadlock.
It was certainly two points dropped and we only have ourselves to blame as we had more than enough chances to win the game, but it has to be said referee Lee Mason had an absolute shocker and it appears Arsene made his feelings known after the game.
The Mirror claim the boss approached Mason and fourth official Craig Pawson in the tunnel and accused him of missing a number of decisions that went against Arsenal. Wenger is quoted as saying:
“It’s always the same with you.”
This prompted Saints boss Ronald Koeman to step in and point the finger straight back at Wenger, saying to the Gunners boss:
“It’s always the same with you.”
“You had 10 chances to score and couldn’t take any of them so why have a go at them?”
To be fair to Arsene, the ref was appalling last night but I’m not a fan of blaming the officials after a game like that. We created more than enough opportunities to win and can only blame our poor finishing for not collecting all three points.
It was a result we couldn’t afford with leaders Leicester City now five points ahead while we also slipped behind Tottenham on goal difference after they beat Norwich City 3-0 at Carrow Road, so the Bournemouth game this weekend is now a MUST win if we’re to stay in the title race.
