Team News: Wenger’s update on Coquelin, Arteta, Flamini & Gabriel
Once again, it’s been another busy day of team and injury news at Arsenal HQ so I’ll bring you a round-up of the update Arsene Wenger provided earlier today.
The boss confirmed some excellent news at his press conference after revealing that Coquelin is likely to be back in contention to face Olympiakos tomorrow night after returning to training on Sunday.
The midfielder has missed our last two games after picking up a minor knee injury against Chelsea last weekend but it looks like he should be back in the side on Tuesday night.
Coquelin couldn’t have returned at a better time as Arsene also confirmed that Flamini and Arteta have been ruled out of the Olympiakos game.
The pair suffered minor muscular injuries during our win over Leicester on Sunday so will take no part in the Champions League outing this week.
In other news, the boss confirmed that Gabriel is back and in contention after completing his one-game domestic ban but Giroud is out as he’ll serve his one-game ban following his dismissal against Dinamo Zagreb.
This is what Arsenal told Arsenal.com:
on Coquelin returning to training…
He has been back since yesterday and I will have to see how he responds to two days of training, but he looks alright.
on Flamini and Arteta…
Both have slight muscular problems, but I think Flamini has a scan today and Arteta certainly as well.
on Gabriel back but no Giroud due to suspension…
Exactly.
on whether Flamini or Arteta are serious injuries…
No, they are not big injuries. It is a question of days.
It’s great that Coquelin is back but I personally wouldn’t risk him tomorrow. There’s no point rushing him back so I’d play Ramsey alongside Cazorla and make sure Coquelin is fit to face Man Utd.
You can see my preferred line-up here
Otherwise, I’d play pretty-much our strongest side. We can’t risk another slip-up after losing in Croatia.

Yep I would hope as full strength as possible though I wouldn’t play cech, Gabriel or coquelin who would all normally make my first choice x1.
But i think wenger will go with this
Ospina
Debuchy mertesacker koscielny gibbs
Ramsey cazorla
Chamberlain ozil alexis
Walcott
Cech Bellerin Gabriel chambers Monreal coquelin campbell although kamara might be in contention for a place on the bench.
