Ratings: Gabriel & Cazorla Impress As Arsenal Beat Newcastle 1-0

Arsenal needed an own goal from Fabricio Coloccini to beat Newcastle United 1-0 at St James’ Park this afternoon.

Here are my ratings

Cech – 6/10  –  Didn’t have a lot to do.

Bellerin – 6/10  –  Fairly easy game for the youngster but he could have offered more going forwards.

Koscielny – 6.5/10  –  Comfortable afternoon for Kos. No real threat offered by the hosts.

Gabriel – 7.5/10  –  I thought he was excellent. Didn’t put a foot wrong and looked at home alongside Koscielny.

Monreal – 6/10  –  Steady performance again. Dealt with the threat of Sissoko well enough.

Coquelin – 7/10  –  Solid game from Le Coq. Was given some rough treatment from the hosts though.

Cazorla – 7.5/10  –  Made everything tick in the middle of the park.

Ramsey – 7/10  – Back in the middle and made some clever runs behind the defence. Worked his socks off too.

The Ox – 6/10  –  It was his shot that let to the winning goal but otherwise he didn’t do a lot to be honest. Disappointing.

Sanchez – 7.5/10  –  Always a danger and went close to scoring a couple of times, but he still looks like he’s not 100% yet.

Walcott – 5/10  –  Struggled up front against a deep Newcastle defence. Wasted two good chances too.

Subs:

Giroud – 5/10 – Spurned a great chance to make it 2-0 at the death.
