Arsenal Quoted €55m After Making Enquiry For Exciting Attacker

According to reports today, Arsenal will have to stump up €55m for Yacine Brahimi after making an enquiry to Porto over his availability.

Arsene Wenger and his staff are busy identifying targets and working on potential deals with the boss looking to bring in top quality players this summer to supplement an already impressive squad.

Based on the transfer speculation so far this summer, you’d think a goalkeeper, central midfielder and striker are Arsene’s priorities but it seems he’s also on the look-out for another attacker.

talkSPORT claim that Wenger wants to sign Algerian international Yacine Brahimi but was told he’d have to pay €55m (£40m) to land the winger after making an enquiry to current club Porto.

Who knows how much truth there is behind talkSPORT’s claims, but there’s practically no chance the boss will pay that kind of money for the Paris-born attacker.

Brahimi is an exciting talent and was in fine form in Portugal last season, scoring 11 goals providing 10 assists, but he’s certainly not a €55m player just yet.

The report does suggest that with Bayern Munich and AC Milan also showing an interest, Porto are trying to generate a bidding war, but they may be prepared to accept slightly less than €55m if their plan back-fires.

Brahimi is still only 25 so he’s got plenty of time to develop further and he can play out wide or as a central playmaker so he’d give us plenty of options in attack.

However, unless Porto come down substantially on their asking price, I don’t see any chance of a deal happening this summer.
