Arsenal To Kick Start Summer Spending With €33m Swoop – Reports

According to reports, Arsenal will kick start their summer transfer business by launching a €33m bid to sign Barcelona attacker Pedro Rodriguez.
We’ve been in sensational form since the turn of the year but Arsene Wenger is still keen to strengthen his squad this summer in order to try and catch Chelsea next season.
The Express are running an exclusive that claims the boss has identified Spanish attacker Pedro as a key target and is now ready to test Barca’s resolve with a €33m (£24m) offer.
The 27-year-old is expected to push for a move this summer after finding first team football hard to come by this season, with the attacker making just 7 starts since Luis Suarez returned from his biting ban in October.
There will be plenty of interest as Pedro is a top class talent, but the Express suggest we are leading the chase ahead of Liverpool and Man Utd for the players signature.
There were rumours that we tried to land Pedro last summer but eventually signed his former Barca team mate Alexis Sanchez, so it seems Arsene is hoping to reunite the pair at the Emirates.
However, any move for Pedro is likely to spell bad news for Theo Walcott. The 26-year-old is set to enter the final year of his deal and he’s struggled to force his way back into Arsene’s plans since returning from injury.
Unless he can be assured of his first team place, I doubt he’ll sign an extension, so a move could be on the cards this summer and it seems we’ve lined-up Pedro as a replacement.
It would be a decent swap as Pedro also has bags of pace and can play anywhere across the front three positions. He’d also carry’s a similar goal threat to Theo, as despite not always being a regular, the Spaniard has still managed 97 goals and 61 assists during his 311 appearances for Barca.
So I’d be pleased to see Pedro come in if Theo does leave, but it remains to be seen whether we’ll be able to persuade Barca into selling as they cannot bring in a replacement until January 2016 due to their transfer ban.
