South American Playmaker ‘Dreams’ Of Joining Arsenal

Chile playmaker Charles Aranguiz says it would be ‘a dream’ to join Arsenal amid reports that we’re lining-up a summer move.

Speculation last week claimed that Arsenal scouts have been keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old this season after Arsene Wenger was left impressed by his performances at the 2014 World Cup.

It’s suggested that we’re ready to make a £5.5m offer to his current club Internacional and Alexis Sanchez is believed to be personally pushing Arsene to bring his compatriot to the club this summer.

Aranguiz had his first taste of playing at the Emirates on Sunday when he took part in Chile’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Brazil and he admitted after the game that it would be a dream to play for Arsenal, but insists he’s not had any contact as yet.

The midfielder told reporters:

“I don’t know anything about it,”

“I’ve heard about it through the press but nobody has talked to me.

“They’re a great team, and it would be a dream, but for now that’s all it is… a dream.”

Aranguiz has 32 caps for his country so he’d have no problem getting a work permit and as a deep-lying playmaker, he could be the ideal replacement for Mikel Arteta.

However, any potential deal could be complicated by the fact that an investment company owns 70% of his economic rights so we may struggle to agree a fee if Arsene decides to make his interest official at the end of the season.
