Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen keen on signing Arsenal

By on August 18, 2026

Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen is reportedly keen on joining Arsenal this summer, as per Football Insider.

The Gunners decided to reinforce the centre-forward position by purchasing Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP last summer. Although he displayed inconsistent performances last term, he managed to guide his side to win the Premier League title.

Apart from the Swedish international, the North London club currently have Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as striker options. However, the Brazilian has had several fitness issues over the years and is entering the final year of his current contract.

Therefore, speculation surrounding his future has been emerging in this window. Havertz, meanwhile, has also had fitness problems in recent months.

Now, Football Insider state that Arsenal have been trying to reinforce the left flank throughout this summer but haven’t been able to buy their preferred option.

Therefore, they could now shift their focus to signing a striker and have enquired about Osimhen’s availability during talks with Galatasaray regarding Gabriel Martinelli.

Although the Nigerian international’s existing deal is set to run until 2029, he is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer, and Cimbom might be ready to let him leave for a fee of around £60m.

Osimhen to Arsenal

Osimhen is a 6ft 1in tall right-footed striker. He is quick, strong, good in the air, efficient in holding up the play, and can finish off his chances. Moreover, he works hard without possession.

The Nigerian joined Galatasaray after helping Napoli win the Serie A title. He initially joined the Turkish giants on loan in 2024 before the deal became permanent the following year.

He has helped Galatasaray win two Super Lig titles and a domestic cup competition over the last two seasons. The 27-year-old has even showcased his productivity, making 44 goal contributions during his debut campaign.

Moreover, he scored 22 goals and registered six assists across all competitions last season. Osimhen is a top-class forward and is still at the prime stage of his career. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services this summer.
