Arsenal have earmarked Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola as an alternative target after missing out on Morgan Rogers, as per The Athletic.
Arsenal are looking to bolster their squad following a very successful 2025-26 campaign, in which they won the Premier League, reached a domestic final, and reached the Champions League final for the first time since 2006.
They have already signed French shotstopper Illan Meslier on a free transfer from Leeds United, while Piero Hincapie’s option to buy clause was triggered after he impressed in his initial loan move from Bayer Leverkusen. A deal for Greek international left winger Christos Tzolis has also been completed from Club Brugge in what has been the biggest transfer in Belgian Jupiler Pro League history.
Mikel Arteta’s side were heavily linked with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, with reports via Arsenal Station revealing that Arsenal are preparing to submit an audacious offer to Villa for the Englishman’s potential transfer to the Emirates.
However, Chelsea swooped in decisively to agree to a British record-breaking deal with the Villains to sign the 23-year-old, who has reportedly completed his medical.
As a result, The Athletic reports that Arsenal have turned their attention to other alternative targets after missing out on Rogers.
Alternative
One of the options the club are looking at is PSG’s Barcola, according to the report, which claims that the Gunners’ sporting director Andrea Berta is keeping tabs on the winger ahead of a potential summer swoop.
However, the French champions are reluctant to part ways with Barcola and have placed a valuation in excess of £100m on the France international, the Athletic adds.
Barcola formed part of a rampant French forward line that struck 20 times across the World Cup, matching England for the tournament’s highest goal tally.
On a personal level, the winger contributed three goals and one assist across seven matches, with his standout moment arriving in the pulsating 10-goal third-place playoff against the English.
His knack for finding the net repeatedly made him one of Didier Deschamps’ most dangerous attacking outlets, and by the tournament’s close he was averaging 2.34 shots and 1.88 big chances created per appearance.
Those performances followed an excellent campaign at club level, where he registered 13 goals and seven assists despite often operating behind Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the pecking order.
Barcola would be an outstanding addition to Arteta’s attack, but whether Arsenal are willing to meet PSG’s valuation of over £100m remains to be seen.
