Arsenal to ‘accelerate’ efforts to sign Morgan Rogers

By on July 17, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly ‘set to accelerate’ their efforts to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Despite winning the Premier League title last term, the Gunners’ left flank was in a state of flux as Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard displayed inconsistent performances.

So, Mikel Arteta has prioritised revamping this position this summer. After letting Trossard join Besiktas, Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge.

Now, on X, Romano states that despite signing the 24-year-old, the North London club want a new marquee acquisition to bolster the frontline and Rogers is their ‘top target’.

Arsenal have already advanced talks with the player’s camp and are now ‘set to accelerate’ their efforts to finalise the operation over the coming days.

Romano wrote:

“Arsenal are now set to accelerate on Morgan Rogers deal, top target as new winger as always mentioned. Talks already advanced on player side and separate case from Tzolis, AFC always wanted both.”

Having recently tied the 23-year-old down to a fresh term until 2031, Aston Villa are in a strong position to demand a big fee and have slapped a whopping £130m price tag on his head.

Rogers to Arsenal

Arteta likes having versatile players, and Rogers can play multiple positions across the attacking midfield. He is a CAM by trait but is also comfortable on either flank.

Since moving to Villa Park from Middlesbrough, he has showcased his productivity over the last two seasons, guiding his side to win the Europa League last term.

After proving his worth in club football, Rogers secured his place in England’s World Cup squad. He helped his country reach the semi-final before losing to Argentina.

The Englishman, standing at 6ft 1in tall, is quick, strong, can make surging runs from deep, and has an eye for scoring goals from distance. Moreover, he can create opportunities for fellow attackers and also works hard without possession.

Rogers is a top-class player and isn’t a finished article yet. He is a Premier League proven player, so he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium ahead of next campaign.
