Arsenal interested in signing Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa

By on July 11, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa, as per Caught Offside.

Since moving to Villa Park from Brentford, the 28-year-old has established himself as an undisputed starter. He even helped his side win the Europa League last term.

In 48 appearances across all competitions, the defender scored twice and kept 15 clean sheets last campaign. After being impressed by his performances in the Premier League, Thomas Tuchel has selected him for England’s World Cup squad.

He has started all five matches for the Three Lions, keeping two clean sheets and helping his country reach the quarter-final.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal have expressed their interest in Konsa to bolster the backline. Aston Villa are at risk of breaching the FFP and PSR rules, so they need to balance the books by selling stars.

However, they don’t want to part ways with both Morgan Rogers and Konsa this summer. Arsenal have identified the former Middlesbrough star as the primary target to bolster the frontline, and apart from them, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool are also in this race.

But Mikel Arteta’s side are currently leading the race to sign Rogers. However, Aston Villa are demanding in excess of £130m to let the 23-year-old leave, with his existing deal set to run until 2031.

Konsa to Arsenal

Konsa is valued at around £34m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2028. Therefore, Unai Emery’s side aren’t in any rush to sell him in this window.

Konsa, standing at 6ft tall, is a centre-back by trait but can also provide cover in the right-back position if needed. He is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back, and is efficient in defensive contributions.

Konsa is a Premier League proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. With Ben White struggling with fitness problems in recent years, the Villa star could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services during this offseason.
