Arsenal keeping a close eye on Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa
Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on RB Leipzig forward Antonio Nusa, as per TEAMtalk.
After being impressed by the 21-year-old’s performances for Club Brugge, the German side decided to purchase him a couple of years ago. In his debut campaign in the Bundesliga, he featured as a rotational option, starting only 16 matches.
However, the youngster featured regularly last campaign, scoring five goals and registering four assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. Moreover, he guided his side to qualify for next season’s Champions League by finishing third in the league.
Having shown glimpses of his high potential at Red Bull Arena, he has secured his place in the Norway national team’s starting line-up, helping his country reach the World Cup quarter-final.
Now, it appears Nusa’s recent promising performances haven’t gone unnoticed as TEAMtalk claim that several clubs across Europe have expressed their interest in him.
Following Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli’s inconsistent performances last term, Arsenal are interested in upgrading the left flank and have been keeping a close eye on Nusa.
Moreover, Tottenham are also in this race, with Spurs holding a long-standing interest in him. They have even made contact with the player’s representatives to persuade him to join.
Nusa to Arsenal
Other than the North London clubs, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace are also eyeing a move for him. Apart from the Premier League teams, AC Milan, Atlético Madrid, Napoli, and AS Roma are also interested in him.
Barcelona have been monitoring his development closely, but after purchasing Anthony Gordon, they might not be able to purchase the Leipzig star.
The report state that Leipzig want up to £51.3m to sell him, with his existing deal set to run until 2029. However, they might even accept a discount deal of around £42.7m.
Nusa is a technically sound left-winger and is a highly talented player. He even possesses the potential to reach the top. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium during this offseason.
